The Jacobs Port Container Terminal Development project was about automating a port container terminal within an existing container terminal. With the end goal of increasing throughput, the project scope included designing new infrastructure in line with existing infrastructure and making the determination of which assets would be demolished and which would be retained.

This brownfield project was multidisciplinary, involving specialist teams including Ports and Maritime Engineers, Dry and Wet Utility Engineers, Geotechnical Engineers, Structural Engineers, Architects, NOC Engineers, CAD Technicians, and BIM modelers.

Tasks included preparing detailed plans for demolition, grading, drainage, water supply and firefighting network design, electrical and telecom network design, allied substation design, and automated crane system foundation design.

Deliverables also included providing geotechnical inputs related to the proposed infrastructure, such as existing ground conditions and the structural design of all elements outlined in the scope of work.

Considering the extensive requirements list, delivery required a clash-free infrastructure design platform to handle both the proposed and existing assets. Some software modules used were OpenFlows SewerGEMS, OpenFlows WaterGEMS, PLAXIS 3D, STAAD.Pro, and ProjectWise.

Join this session to learn about:

  • Hydraulic analysis of an existing system with proposed new water system
  • Geotechnical analysis
  • Structural analysis of a proposed infrastructure
  • Providing clash-free proposed infrastructure and resolving clashes based on the site condition
