Unleash the Dynamic Potential beyond Static

OnDemand Available Now

Soil and structures are not just subjected to static but also dynamic load arising from either seismic motions or human-induced activities, e.g. vehicular movement, machinery vibration, drill & blast and pile driving etc. For decades, the pseudo-static approach had been widely adopted whereby the seismic force is approximated by altering the gravity field, however the vibration effects to a large extent remain unaddressed.

With the Dynamics module, PLAXIS 2D and PLAXIS 3D are extended with the capability to deal with various sources of vibrations and the due influence on the soil, structures and the soil-structure interaction. Dynamic-related functionalities will be activated within the native PLAXIS software environment.

In this webinar, we will take you through various dynamic applications of traffic load, pile driving, drill and blast as well as earthquake in PLAXIS, and demonstrate the use of 1D site response tool for the processing of input motion at arbitrary depth and the evaluation of ground motion, before taking to a full scale dynamic analysis for the assessment of liquefaction potential and impact on the infrastructure associated with response spectrum and Arias intensity.

In this webinar, you will learn about:

  • Bentley’s newest licensing option, the Virtuoso Subscription
  • Benefits of Virtuoso Subscription
  • Various dynamic applications of traffic load, pile driving, drill and blast as well as earthquake in PLAXIS, and demonstrate the use of 1D site response tool for the processing of input motion at arbitrary depth and the evaluation of ground motion
  • Dynamic analysis in PLAXIS

MSc. Geotechnical

Manager, User Success, Geotechnical

Xing-Cheng, is a User Success Manager in promoting the application of geotechnical solution(s) at different stages throughout the life-cycle of geotechnical projects.

Through the 10 years of service in Plaxis, he had been involved in technical support and expert service that helped the clients in validating and thus obtaining cost-effective designs while fulfilling the serviceability requirements by authority, through numerical impact assessment; his service in geotechnical forensic modelling resolved disputes amongst parties, and dismissed undue liability for the client, by close replay of geotechnical behavior that was in line with field observation.

He was also a trainer from Plaxis Academy promoting the knowledge of FEM in geotechnical engineering in the Asia-pacific region.
