Jal Jeevan Mission, a Government of India initiative under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, aims to ensure access of piped safe water for every household in India. The mission’s goal is to provide everyone safe and adequate water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India. In the recent Union Budget 2021, under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the government has embarked to cover nearly 4378 urban local bodies with a spend of INR 2.87 lakhs crore.
