Understanding the behaviour of soils under varying and rapid loads is critical in soil dynamics, a field with many applications in geotechnical engineering projects. Soil dynamics is essential in several infrastructure projects, ranging from dynamic slope stability and seismic design of retaining walls to soil-structure interaction, machine vibrations, and soil liquefaction. As a result, highly competent engineers are needed to tackle the complexity of soil dynamics, who can analyse and manage assets subjected to complex dynamic loads and comprehend soil reactions and responses.

Modern infrastructure projects require dynamic analysis as an essential criterion. To predict and analyze complex soil dynamics efficiently, engineers rely on finite element modelling. In this regard, PLAXIS' latest functionalities can be immensely beneficial in empowering geotechnical engineers to design prioritizing safety and functionality.

Join our expert, Richard Witasse, in a live webinar as he delves into enhancing your dynamic analysis capabilities with PLAXIS and ensuring modelling success. Discover the power of PLAXIS, unlock new possibilities in geotechnical engineering, and take a significant step toward more efficient and safer infrastructure projects.

What you will learn:

  • Simplified numerical techniques and pseudo-static analysis
  • Absorbent boundaries and constitutive soil model under cyclic loading
  • 1D site response analysis
  • 2D analysis examples with soil-structure interaction
